Simple yet difficult questions

I have just completed a very interesting 2.5 hours interview (details soon). This will kick off a series of interviews coming up for Tru-Luv Rabbitry. Just imagining me talking 2.5 non stop all about Holland Lops, rabbits and more rabbits, I must be such an interesting subject – 😛

I believe the interview went really well. I answered all questions without preparing so it was rather straight from the heart like how it always is. But I somehow felt that I didn’t hit home with most of the simple questions.

One of the question that I find hard answering these days is “Why do you like Holland Lop or rather rabbits?” You can always expect me to be dumbfounded by this simple question. I really can’t answer.

I did apologize to the interviewer that I find certain question very hard to answer because my mind is more preoccupied with the technicalities like color genetics and general drug dosages for rabbits. It is like going from 100 km/hour and suddenly asked to drop to 30 km/hour. But I do understand that generally, the public is still unaware of certain things and I just need to work the brain more to help them understand from my perspective.

For most of us, we always begin with “I like Holland Lops because they are cute”. But for me, I have moved beyond that and if I answer “I love to have hands on experience with dispositions and color genetics”, it will be quite difficult to relate and that is something I do not like happening.

But for now, I would like to say that “I love Holland Lops because it is an obsession. It is an obsession that I have to prove to the world that ethical breeding is possible even with the tiniest of animals like Holland Lops and my obsession is to bring into this world beautiful and healthy rabbits to be shared by people who are obsessed with taking good care of their rabbits. YES, IT IS AN OBSESSION and it is called PASSION”.

For any man out there who likes cars and soccer. I am sure it is hard to get a good answer asking them, “Why do you like cars and soccer?”, RIGHT? I even found a friend dumbfounded when I ask him “Why do you like Liverpool?”

There you go, don’t ask me why cause that’s just ME and I have mad love for Holland Lops.

Cheers for the weekend!

Selamat Pengantin Baru (Cheers To The Newly Weds)

I feel so honored to grow together with my bunny friends. I like going through the life stages of all my rabbits and also my friends in rabbits. This weekend we celebrate the WEDDING of the proud parents of Truffles, Miss Muffet, Bugsy & Tiramishu. We have made plans to attend this wonderful occasion but sadly, we were not able to be there due to other commitments.

But I made up for our absence at their wedding ceremony. I agreed to bunny sit for them.

Truffles showing off his bum as he was really hungry...

A very thirsty Miss Muffet...

The ever cutie Goodie 2 Shoes...

Very hungry bunnies...

yum yum yum!

Another Possible Regretful Decision

My waiting list is long but my supply list is short. There are quite a number of people who have approached me for one of my Holland Lops for the longest time but most are rejected for various reasons. Some never return and even threw in a few curses in hatred for my “arrogance”. But I am always in awe to see the persistence in some of these potential buyers. I am more than willing to share and help the unsuccessful candidates with bunny that they might face although they do not get any rabbits from me.

I am always happy to see others making improvements through my opinions and advice. One such case is the person that I am passing one of my rabbit to this weekend. I truly respect this person for being so persistent and I am glad that he made the effort to keep in touch. He even updates me on the progress of his rabbits.

With great reluctance, all bunnies at TLR bid farewell to Tru-Luv Truli. They are almost 11 weeks now and it is really difficult to decide which to keep and which to share. If I could, I would like to keep them all – LOL!

And since I am confident that he will have a good life in his new place, I have picked Tru-Luv Truli. As usual, I did a little simple health check on him and take some photos for keep sake.

Clean and well aligned teeth

Clean vent area and it's a BOY!

Very difficult decision indeed...

The bone on this guy is amazing...

Over to you Mr. Recycle…

So far so good

Besides from health issues and as far as what my Hollands produce are concerned, I always keep my fingers crossed for 2 things. Firstly, I wish that none of my breedings produce Fuzzy Holland Lops. In my opinion, Fuzzy Holland Lops must be banned from breeding. Secondly, I always hope not to get black Holland Lops. I do not normally fancy a black rabbit and it is mainly because they are hard to snap a photo with – LOL.

Jokes aside, I initially thought that McNite Noir was a fuzzy baby. Turned out she wasn’t, so 1 dislike did not materialize but he is still a black Holland Lop. As days go by, he is proving me wrong. I must say that he is the first black Holland Lop kit that I like.

How can I not fall in love with this little guy?

Kinda Chunka....

6 weeks old cutie!

Good news and more good news!

I received an SMS this morning from Tru-Luv Betty’s owner. His last words on the SMS was “Great year, Tim!”.

Infact it is eventhough there were some major losses and difficult life situations. Things are looking really good.

Good news #1

I know everyone has been wondering what has happened to MROC. As I mentioned in one of my earlier post, it is very much alive. We are in the midst of getting it registered officially and hopefully get it ARBA chartered. There is still a lot of nitty gritty that needs to be finalize. Please pray for all involved in this effort.

Good news #2

I am very happy, excited and honored to be appointed the District Representative for ARBA District 9. I will be serving all ARBA members here in Malaysia. If you are a member of ARBA, please get in touch with me if you have any interesting news to share or you have any problems that you need help with. I will be please to assist you.

For your information, Malaysia comes under FOREIGN subscription and therefore we are under the jurisdiction of District 9 currently headed by Dr. Jay Hreiz.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Jay Hreiz for entrusting me with this honorable role. I will serve to the best of my ability.

So folks, please don’t be shy and do get in touch with me. I will be very happy to hear from you and I am sure our friends in USA would love to know about us as well.

It is starting to snow on this blog again. Time for some nice Christmas photographs. Christmas time is always the happiest time at Meadow Haven.

That reminds me that I will need to again think of the new year’s resolution for the rabbitry. I believe a major clean up is needed. Just hope that I am able to find the time to do it.
