Shot Saturday

Felt like it was ages since the last time we had a photo session here. I blame the short weekend for the limited time I have to enjoy myself. Somehow Saturdays and Sundays have less hours than the weekdays.

Today I managed to “steal” an hour to groom the bunnies (a little) and took mugshots of them. I must say that they were very cooperative today as I almost need not spend too much time “posing” them.

It is pretty mundane here at the moment except that we have ROB’s Beauty here on an “exchange program”. I always find that it is very challenging to take photos of black objects especially black rabbits. I am glad that today’s attempt on Beauty turned out pretty well. What do you think?

Hat In The Bin

Whenever I venture into something, I cannot help but to realize how things start to appear before my eyes. Last week, I took some photos of my bunnies wearing hats and posing with some interesting accessories I picked up while doing Christmas shopping.

The props seemed to work with scenic photographs I have taken during my many travels. I can safely say that I have found good use for these photographs.

Since then, my mind has been quite in sync with the ideas of bunnies with hats and surprisingly, I found a hat in the bin today. I thought the size was fitting for another bunny photograph session and could not wait to give it a try on one of the bunnies.

Lo and behold, it fitted perfectly and this is the final outcome:

Year of the Gentlebun

I really am enjoying myself this holiday. I find that photography sessions are very therapeutic for the soul and one of the things I enjoy doing “bunny wise” is taking nice photographs of my rabbits. One will sure to notice that this weblog is nothing but photographs and I am sure our loyal readers can attest to that.

Ne-Yo happens to be one of my favorite artists and like the title of one of his albums, I am giving 2014 the theme – “Year of the Gentlebun”.

Here are a couple of photos taken today and hope all of you like them.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2014

Today being Christmas, I received a very special present from my god son and god daughter. They know that I love rabbits and gave me Apple flavored Milk Candies from The World of Beatrix Potter. Luv them to bits and pieces both the candies and my god children!

BeatrixPotterCandies

On to some less serious stuff. I cannot believe that we’re entering the 7th year of Tru-Luv Rabbitry. As I strive for improvements while enjoying the hobby, it has been quite a wonderful year for the rabbits and myself. The highlight this year has got to be attending the 90th ARBA Convention at Pennsylvania, USA.

You can read all about it here – A Bunny Vacation.

During the holiday season, I also reminisced the wonderful time I had at the 88th ARBA Convention at Indianapolis, USA. I wrote a much more interesting post back then and you can read all about it here – 88th ARBA Convention Through My Lenses.

Year 2014 shall be a year we go back to basics. Firstly, I hope to write as often as I can so that our avid/loyal readers will once again enjoy revisiting and reading the contents. I will try to be less intense and vulgar (try my best that is). The level or sarcasm should remain because that adds color while I get to release some creative juice.

2014 will be a great year for Tru-Luv Rabbitry. I would like to thank everyone for visiting this weblog. I personally am very happy that it is still very much alive and kicking. We have just renewed the “dot com” domain for another year.

And with that, I would also like to wish all readers and friends….

the Happiest, Jolliest of Christmas and a Wonderful New Year 2014!

When It feels like Christmas

For the past few years, this blog would start “snowing” and when that happens, it means that Christmas is near. Besides from Christmas photo sessions, another Christmas tradition here at Tru-Luv Rabbitry is to get December babies. It brings a lot of joy to the heart seeing nest boxes lined with fur and warm babies in them during the rainy December month in Malaysia. Each year we try to get Christmas day babies but to date, I do not remember having such good timing.

However, this year we are happy to announce the birth of a couple of special 1st December babies. We hope to see them grow up into healthy and beautiful bunnies.

Always nice to get babies in December.

Always nice to get babies in December.

On the other hand, we would like to help re-home a few Dwarf Hamsters. These cuties were abandoned and now looking for homes to adopt them. If you or any of your friends is looking for little hamsters as pets, please feel free to call Mr. Brandon at 017-3211083. They are in healthy and good condition.

Help us find homes please...

Fuss Over Trance

When trance music exploded into the club/disco scene, practically everyone just went wild and crazy. They just danced away.

I cannot say the same when it comes of the topic of trance in terms of flipping rabbits around so that their belly face up. There are some groups out there advocating that trance is harmful to rabbits.

I for one uses the trance technique whenever I need to groom the fur on my rabbits’ belly or when I need to clip their nails. In a trance position, the rabbits stay completely still and I avoid the risk of clipping their quick.

In my humble opinion, it is much better for a rabbit to stay still when I clip their nails rather than having them trying to escape my clutches which I believe is more stressful. Furthermore, I usually clip nails all by myself without the help from someone to hold my rabbits. No fuss and done in less than 2 minutes per rabbit.

Another thing that people have to know is that, baby rabbits nurse with their belly facing upwards which is also the same as the trance position. And often times when mama bunny is done nursing, the kits can be seen sleeping on their backs. Again, that is trance – naturally. Mama rabbits never lie down for their kits to suckle but stand over them instead. So if lying on their backs is harmful, I could have lost many baby rabbits but in reality, I have not lost one bunny through trancing.

So let your hair down and TRANCE!

A Dedication

Dedicating today to all the rabbits that have graced Tru-Luv Rabbitry both in the past and present. Creating this collage reminded me how diverse the herd has been and not two rabbits are the same. There will never (ever) be and that is a fact!
