Exciting!

Was spending time in the rabbitry this evening and I noticed this little doe staring at me while striking a pose. I had to setup a makeshift backdrop and snap away.

I am absolutely lovin' her!

Family Portrait

Just got the inspiration to capture family portraits of 3 generations of Hollands in my rabbitry at the moment. While snapping the photos, I felt that it was something really special. It wasn’t easy getting them all to pose at the same time and there are many misses during the session. But here’s a few decent shots I got…

Tru-Luv Sibylla (daughter of Clark), Miller's Clark (sire of Sibylla & Balian, son of Carmel), Wark & Miller's Carmel (Top Lop 2007, dam to Clark and grandmother to Sibylla & Balian) & Tru-Luv Balian (son of Clark)

Fred & Sibylla’s Day Out!

It was such a wonderful day and I thought I’ll just bring Fred and Sibylla out on a little garden tour. I love taking outdoor photos with them and so I bundled them both up and off we go to the garden for some awesome photos.

Almost 5 months, Fred giving me a wink!

Still in the midst of a major molt!

I am loving the backdrop. LOL!

Sibylla gave me a shocker while I was snapping photos. There is a little flair in her that reminds me very much of her grandmother Carmel. Carmel has got this very cute attention seeking trait in her and she will normally strike a pose in front of the camera while giving a little shiver like an eager puppy. That was what Sibylla did for me as well! She was such an eager beaver in front of the camera. I did not even attempt to pose her but instead just clicked away! She seemed to love every moment of it.

8 months old Sibylla

Showing off her sexy back!

I absolutely love her. One of my best homegrown for sure!

Look at those wonderful flowers!

Click away!

Surely is Carmel's grand daughter!

My Heart Bunny

This will not be a long worded post. I just do not have the words to “pen” down because I am busy chatting on the other side. I have been going back and forth wondering what I’ll do with this little lovely doe. Whatever it is, I just can’t move this wonderful doe along. She is 3 years, 7 months and 24 days old today. No words can explain how sweet this little doe is. She is ever willing to pose with such enthusiasm. She is indeed a perfect little package!

No matter what, it will definitely be “till death do us part”.

Nothing beats having a little run on a sunny day!

Up to no good!

I am not relieving myself mind you. This seemed to be a nice place to hide!

Comfort zone....

A few minutes after this photo was taken, she had 2 paws on top of the side of that litter pan. She looked so darn cute! Too bad I wasn’t able to capture that moment.

Bone, Bone, Bone

One of my all time favorite hip hop group happens to be Bone Thugs & Harmony. Any other vocal groups that have tight harmonies will never fail to capture my attention. In the Holland Lop world, there is a term/word that you will always hear breeders using – BONE.

The term BONE is used to refer to Hollands with very massive/thick overall look. The best indicator for a rabbit with “BONE” is the 2 front legs. Some of us refer to them as the STUMPS just like how the trunk of an old tree looks like – simply thick and massive.

I am pretty surprised as to how Wilma has changed through time. She is going through her first major molt right now but what I really like about this doe is her BONE. The only thing I would like to improve on her is the length of her ears. Since it is a total outcross, I need to wait a while longer to see if she will grow into those ears. We did see similar situation with Sibylla but now Sibylla has got nice short ears. The slipped crown on Wilma may also be a contributor to her having “longer” ears. I am not too worried if the head do not pop that much because you seldom get does having a buck’s head. That would be a bonus for now.

I did a little sketch of the perfect Holland on my mind somewhere in August 2009. I believe very much that I am almost there with Wilma.

My vision

Any resemblence to my sketch?

I love looking at the stumps!

I can’t wait for her to fully develop and have her big girl fur growing. She will be a stunning Holland. I am indeed very grateful to have good lines to work with and everything clicks well together. That saves a lot of unnecessary breeding to fix faults. I hope the consistency continues.

Here’s a candid shot of Wilma that I like:

Yes?

And I’ll see you at the CROSSROADS?
