Skor’s 1st Year Anniversary

There are a lot of bunny photos on this laptop of mine that I have not posted on the blog. Somehow, tonight I felt an urge to go through these old photos and I realized that the day Skor mated with Holly Hope was his 1st year anniversary with Tru-Luv Rabbitry. He arrived at TLR exactly on 12th of December 2007.

I remembered very clearly and was relating this experience with D about how I felt the moment I was told that Skor was well on his way. Back then, we do not have Oxbow or any other reliable rabbit pellet brands and part of me was a little worried and doubtful on how well I could care for this beautiful buck. I got quite emotional at one point I must admit having the feeling of causing this little creature to fly halfway across the globe for an uncertain future. No one was sure if he could take the stress of the journey. It is always a risk when it comes to shipping live animals.

The moment I saw him, I just could not believe my eyes. He is finally here! I cannot believe after going through all the plannings and waiting. He is finally right there in front of my eyes!

And how fast time flies as it has been a year and more than a dozen of kits from different does, Skor is still a sharp shooter that every doe loves. So as a tribute to this wonderful buck, I would like to post some of the photos taken of him a few days after his arrival. I know it was a little stressful for him throughout the journey so I let him out for a run in the garden:

Bollywood at TLR

If you are a fan of hindustan movies, this may offend you. This being the most anticipating mating session ever, I had to photograph each and every action by these 2 stunning actor/actress. But of course, due to explicit contents, some of the photographs has been removed since this blog is children friendly and I try to refrain from posting lewd contents.

Going through the photos just made me laughed hysterically because these 2 buhnies seemed to act like those in Bollywood Hindie Movie. What is interesting in these movies is that, the actors and actresses can tell their love story from mountain tops, in the valley, travel the whole world round and also “underwater” while rolling down the hill, singing and dancing (sometimes dancers will appear from no where) all in one long breath and just within the timeframe of a song. I hope you get what I mean because I was trying to write that line all within one breath too.

Alright, how is that the same with what happened during this most anticipated mating session? Check out the photos!

After mating, they cannot stop chasing each other around the “pillar”. Bollywood actors and actresses are known to dance around the coconut trees!

The Horny Were-rabbit

You know, I am always haunted by images from were-wolf movies especially the one where the man or woman turns into a were wolf with a full moon as the backdrop. Creepy isn’t it?

I was at http://www.calculatorcat.com/moon_phases/phasenow.php today and was very intrigued by how great the computer world has become. The website is able to generate an image of the moon phase according to your computer system time.

As most of you know, I have been waiting for the day Holly Hope mates with Skor. And the wait was rather long and I just couldn’t explain the reason why she is being so reluctant to mate. I once again called upon my dearest mentor Laurie for guidance and she was really kind as usual to share with me a couple of tips. I chose the 2nd tip she suggested and well, I am once again in awe by her accuracy! It is such a waste she has quit this wonderful hobby. She is one of the greatest Holland Lop breeder of all time. The reason for her greatness of course lies in the knowledge that she has got and most importantly, her willingness to share. She is never selfish of her knowledge.

So that being said, I came home today and as my rabbitry sign says, “SMILE WHEN ENTERING”. So I calm myself from the stress of the day, put on a smile and greeted the bunnies. I took Skor out from his cage, placed him on the ground. I then took Holly Hope and placed her on the ground too after checking her vent. It was rather red…

To my great surprise, she went for the humping straight away. And I mean SHE humped Skor. She has been humping Skor all these while but somehow, today I have got a different feeling. Right after she was done humping, she allowed Skor to mount her. And what I saw next literally took my breath away. She LIFTED her bum!

As usual, Skor gave a loud TRIBAL call and the deed was done.

I am overjoyed! Finally, Holly Hope has been “de-flowered” and we shall wait for the outcome in another 30 days.

Sorry to end on an anti-climax note, I must say that my worry does not end here, now please pray for smooth delivery everyone!

12th January 2009 is the date to look out for. A new year, a new litter!

That’s Muh Boy Skor

It’s been a while since I last put up a photo of Tru-Luv’s one and only favorite boy. So since it is the last day of my long weekend, I thought of giving all the buhnies a nail cutting session and naturally, I felt like posting something about Skor.

So far, this boy never misses a litter. Each time I mate him with any of the does, he gets the job done. And talking about taking the extra mile, he give quite a number of kits. As far as quality is concern, he needs a great doe to compliment him. That is why the combination of him and Hope is highly anticipated. I do not want to put too high a hope for the two of them to avoid great disappointment. I just want to enjoy the entire process and be happy with whatever I am getting out of it.

As for brood does, I prefer Noobie over BlueBerry for overall type. I hope Holly Hope fair better come December.

I am slowly getting there but glad I have started on this incredible journey of show rabbit breeding!

What On Earth Did I Miss?

It has been about 2 weeks since I last took photos of the juniors and I just cannot believe my eyes when I took them out one by one for an impromptu photo session.

Oh my Goodness Gracious! Eclipse is slowly showing off his big head and nice ear carriage. There is a reason why most breeders hold on to “potentials” for a little longer and I am actually experiencing that at this moment. I would like to hold on to Eclipse for a little while longer. Charl is definitely going although she looks promising, I am letting her go mainly because of color.

I better not waste too much time on words. Let’s leave the talking to the photos alright?

Final Cut

Since Eclipse & Luna are kept in separate cages side by side, they have been grooming each other through the cage partition. So much so that both of them have shorter fur around their faces. Hope they grow back nicely.

I have finally made up my decision which to keep from BlueBerry’s litter. But before I state my decision and reason, here are some photos of them:

And the moment of truth. Both of them have a lot of similarities except for some differences in color pattern and body type. Overall, Eclipse has got a broader body. Unfortunately Eclipse does not make the cut to be my herd buck.

Therefore, I am offering Tru-Luv Eclipse up for sale. I am also offering Tru-Luv Charl up for sale. But she will not be ready until 6th October. For those who are interested, please email me at truluvrabbitry@gmail.com. Do include your experience in keeping rabbits and why have you chosen Holland Lop.

The Brother & Sister Team Of Havoc

Luna and Eclipse has since grown up quite a bit and as usual, I decided to let them out for a little run today.

I love their color! They are light blue in color. Really amazing! When I snap a photo of them against a white background, they seemed to be a little blur but that’s just their color playing tricks on the camera.

They run all over the place and I could see them binky non stop!

Juniors at Tru-Luv Rabbitry

I just thought of snapping a few photos of each and every junior living at TLR at the moment. It was great fun taking these photos. Some pee-ed and poo-ed making it so hilarious for me. I just cannot stop laughing. Some posed well and others wasn’t in the mood. Either way, these are their natural poses. They are all my pride and joy. Enjoy Everyone!

Tru-Luv Moesha (Mo) – Jr Doe:

I just love the broadness with this girl. Absolutely stunning. Such a cheeky girl. Whenever I take her out for a photo session, she will give me absolute protest always looking downwards. As soon as I put her back into the cage, she will show me the nicest pose.

Tru-Luv Charlyz (Charl) – Jr Doe:

It is hard to tell that Charl has once fell 5 feet from my clutches  to the ground. She is very active compared to Mo. Generally, they are too young for praises. Just hope they both grow up well and healthy.

Tru-Luv Eclipse – Jr Buck:

Eclipse has shown great depth since a very young age. I am just a little disappointed with the long ears. I do hope it is an “ugly duckling” situation and those ears stop growing from now.

Tru-Luv Luna – Jr Doe:

Somehow, I like the way Luna poses. It may be a little faulted at the top line but I like her build so far. Again, the long ears isn’t what I was hoping for.

The Rabbit Hill Holly Hope – Jr Doe:

Holly Hope is now putting on some stockiness. I am hoping that she will blossom further and gets filled up soon especially the head. She is scheduled to be bred to Skor come November 2008. I am looking forward for a Christmas litter.
