Fred @ 9 months

*wink*

Though Fred is really growing up looking like his dad Thunder, I would like to see improvements in certain areas. I have certain preferences and styles that I like to see in my Hollands while adhering to the SOP. Looking at the front shots of him is pretty hard to see what are the improvements needed except for the width of his shoulders and chest being narrow as indicated by how close the front legs are between each other. I would also prefer to see less of the back feet from the front thus, broader chest.

Areas of improvement

Most of us in the corporate world are very familiar with the acronym, KPI – Key Performance Indicator. Although I do not impose such corporate governance unto my rabbits, there are a few things that I hope to improve in future. To improve, I first need to know what I like to see less and things I would like to see more in my rabbits. Looking at the photo above, it would be better that his crown starts from the solid line on top of his head. Right now it is what we call a slipped crown. That is the reason why looking at his front shots, it is hard to see his crown in full bloom. I would like to see more of rounded and thick ears as they are folded here.

His front legs are a little tad longer than desired and the diagonal dotted line indicates where his legs should have stopped growing (LOL!). Due to the reason that his hindquarters are pinched and undercut,  his hind legs seemed to have been pushed way forward. The tip of the his hind feet should be just below his hip as indicated by the line.

I like Fred’s head the most because it is really broad and he has the nicest apple cheeks. So basically, I have just a few more puzzles to put together to get the perfect picture.

Love the head!

Cute little guy!

Grieving

It was really hard today cleaning up the rabbitry. Just looking at Clark’s empty cage break my heart all over again. It is so hard for me not to fold an extra piece of newspaper to line his litter tray.

I just cannot forget how handsome he was even in his passing, he was such a beautiful little boy.

I miss you Clark. Beth asked me why you’re not here today. I told her we sent you to the cemetery and she asked, “Dad, what’s SEMITREE?”. Isn’t she funny?

I remembered one time how you gave a shock and later I was laughing really hard. Remember that day when you acted like such a pig digging into the pellets so fast that you got one stuck in your nose? You were having greenish snots and that gave me a scare. Then I realized you inhaled a piece of pellet through the nose and that was so funny.

You must be really having fun binky-ing all around at rainbow bridge right now.

We’re Losing Clark

Update: R.I.P. at 11.18pm

My heart is breaking as I sit here holding Clark with one arm and typing with another. He has stopped eating and drinking the past 2 days. I have been doing the best I can to get him to come back around.

Things will never be the same without you around...

I don’t think anything is working anymore. I just wish that he suffer no more…

You will be forever missed. Clark, you will always be our “superman”. Have a safe crossing over and please come give me a nudge at rainbow bridge…

Baby Clark

Clark,

You left while I murmured softly that I release you from all your duties. I know you are at a better place right now. If only if you could hear my broken heart right now, there are only sounds of shattered glasses. The moment I knew that Kay was sending you to me, I made a little promise that you will be well loved. I do not know if I have failed to keep that promise but I do know that you will always be my favorite herd buck.

Even in death you were the calmest Holland Lop I’ve ever come across. I know the bite on Beth’s tummy wasn’t intentional and she still loves you very much. Words can never describe how painful it is to know that you have gone.

All I wish is for you to remember me when you see me crossing the bridge. And I hope you have found the rest of the Tru-Luv rabbits and those of our friends that has gone where you are right now. Do look out for Hans too and let him know we all do miss him. Tell Seychel I love her and will always do. Tell Latara & Unix that I am still thinking about both of them. Say hello to MasterChief and Breelynn for me too.

As you can see, it is so hard for me to let go and I am missing you already. If you happen to see the Creator, please tell him to watch over all of us and keep us strong and healthy.

I miss you Clark, I really do…

Luv always,

Everyone at Tru-Luv

I just can't believe you're gone

Family Portrait

Just got the inspiration to capture family portraits of 3 generations of Hollands in my rabbitry at the moment. While snapping the photos, I felt that it was something really special. It wasn’t easy getting them all to pose at the same time and there are many misses during the session. But here’s a few decent shots I got…

Tru-Luv Sibylla (daughter of Clark), Miller's Clark (sire of Sibylla & Balian, son of Carmel), Wark & Miller's Carmel (Top Lop 2007, dam to Clark and grandmother to Sibylla & Balian) & Tru-Luv Balian (son of Clark)

Tru-Luv Balian, My Totally Huggable Awesome Posum!

OMG! I am totally lost for words…

Little Meg and her family has taken care of Balian so well. His fur SHINES! This is totally unbelievable. You got to feel him to believe it! Amazingly smooth and shiny fur, that cute puffy cheeks and overall well balanced body. He is back in Meadow Haven for a “holiday” as how Little Meg’s mummy puts it. Don’t we all wish to have holidays like these?

Balian reaffirms my theory and belief that vast improvements can be attained with just 1 generation. He is a total out cross from 2 totally unrelated lines one of which is less superior than the other. I know it is very difficult to get consistency especially in breeding Holland Lops (if they even breed at all) but by making the right decision to put 2 rabbits that compliments each other, it will help cut down experimental breedings which more often than not goes to waste and contributes to over population of pets. I hope this does not sound arrogant but I must say that for me, this is a proof of concept for me and I will stick with my beliefs in my breeding program.

For now, there will be lotsa bumpin’ and grindin’ happening here for sure…

I must really say that Balian is the best of Tru-Luv Rabbitry thus far! I am so proud of this boy (Miller’s Clark’s son)!

Just check out this photo that I just took…

I just love him!

He is just coming off a molt. Once he's done, he'll be super awesome!

Balian putting on a smug smile...

Thank you Little Meg and family for allowing me to bring Balian back for a little vacation!

What Brightens Up My Day!

We can never deny the fact that pets are very good “de-stressing” agents. That is one of the reasons why people with pets will never give up having one after another. I guess most of us are just so hooked to how therapeutic having a pet in our lives.

There are many faces that brighten up my rough days and I need to get a daily fix no matter how hectic my life is.

How not to feel refreshed when you are greeted by such a cute face everyday?

Fred & Sibylla’s Day Out!

It was such a wonderful day and I thought I’ll just bring Fred and Sibylla out on a little garden tour. I love taking outdoor photos with them and so I bundled them both up and off we go to the garden for some awesome photos.

Almost 5 months, Fred giving me a wink!

Still in the midst of a major molt!

I am loving the backdrop. LOL!

Sibylla gave me a shocker while I was snapping photos. There is a little flair in her that reminds me very much of her grandmother Carmel. Carmel has got this very cute attention seeking trait in her and she will normally strike a pose in front of the camera while giving a little shiver like an eager puppy. That was what Sibylla did for me as well! She was such an eager beaver in front of the camera. I did not even attempt to pose her but instead just clicked away! She seemed to love every moment of it.

8 months old Sibylla

Showing off her sexy back!

I absolutely love her. One of my best homegrown for sure!

Look at those wonderful flowers!

Click away!

Surely is Carmel's grand daughter!

Fred’s day out

I took Fred out visiting today and he was such a curious furry ball. It is his first time out in the “great outdoors” and all the different sounds intrigues him. He was all perked up, alert and a little apprehensive of the new environment. Nonetheless he had a blast.

What's over there?

Love his cute face with puffy cheeks...

Overposed!

We heard a loud crash and Fred went, WTH?

Not another crash?
