Day 2: Binky Free Tru-Luv Kacang Putih

Another familiar crossroad. The faith of a peanut is always sealed the moment it is born. The case of Kacang Putih through my observation is that, it was born without a proper tummy coupled with a bad pituitary gland, its development and growth was severely stunted. This is again the cause of the lethal double dwarf gene. I assisted it to suckle and she does have a lot of strength to suckle initially but nothing is getting into the stomach. I can’t see any milk “pouch” in there. It seemed that the more it suckles, the thinner it became. I found Kacang Putih “dried” up at one corner of the nest box far away from its siblings. It is sad because it seemed to know its own fate and distance itself from the others. The obvious signs of a peanut includes the buldge on the head, a hind quarter that is not developing and also the very tiny little ears.

Goodbye little one

Thosai and Mooruku is doing well on the other hand. I am just going to concentrate efforts in keeping these 2 alive and well.

I notice that Mooruku is pretty broad

Please concentrate on Thosai and stop staring at my smooth hand! :P

Day 1: Tru-Luv Mooruku, Thosai & Kacang Putih

As you can see, I have the initial names for all three of them. Since they were born on Deepavali day, I named them after the festive’s favorite delicacies.

The peanut is called Kacang Putih because Kacang means peanut. I always relate broken blacks to the dairy cow so instead of Muruku, I am calling it Mooruku. As for Thosai, it is made mostly using flour and always served for free during this holiday in Indian restaurants.

Here’s how they look today. I don’t have much hope for Kacang Putih because I noticed that although she suckles, there isn’t any milk going into her tummy.

Notice the big bulge on Kacang Putih's head!

I was told by a friend that the lighter colored ones are BLUE TORTS! YAY!!!!

Holly Hope x Clark: Gestation Day 28

The countdown has began. She’s 28th day and heavily pregnant. I am keeping my all my fingers and toes crossed. It is indeed anytime now that she’ll pop. Finally we are going to have some kits. I am not keeping hopes too high as this is only 1/3 of the journey. The deliver can be quite stressful for both mother and kits. So far I can feel movements in her womb.

The bulge is extremely obvious real life

Another sign telling me that she’s heavily pregnant is that, her vent area tends to be lower and usually it is stained by a little bit of urine because that area is beginning to be heavy.

Come on everyone and everybun, time for some prayer power!

Time really flew by quickly. The kits are growing up pretty fast too. It will be very exciting to see how they grow up to be. Here are a few of their photos.

YeahooOoo Tattoo Day

I am not a fan of tattoo on humans but I was always interested in rabbit tattoos. And since I bought myself a set of tattoo kit, I decided to put them to good use. I tattoo all 4 kits today – Truffles, Seychel, Camior and Milkyway Shiro.

It was a success and I have got many people to thank especially Susie and Teri for briefing me through what to expect. But nothing beats the real thing. I didn’t know some stuff prior to tattooing them and now I know exactly how the clamp tattoo kit works. I am not disclosing too much details as many people may not take it as something pleasant.

Anyhow, no life threatening feat and I must say that tattooing young rabbits is quite an easy task. And tattooing just one digit made it all much easier for me and also for the kits. So since I have only got 4 kits to tattoo, I went by the number from 1 to 4.

Let’s guess who’s #1, #2, #3 and #4. Please include your answers through comments based on the photos below.

Videos & Photos

Here’s a video of Thunder roaming around the house this evening. It was his day out today. Not only does he look like a little mini bulldog, he acts like a dog as well.

Here’s a video of Beth playing with Woody Pet pellets rather than bunnies with Ladee running mad around the house. LOL!

And I also received a few photos from Alicia of Pet Epicure. Luna is enjoying her life with Monty. Just look at how the children love and are loved by the pets. Great parenting skills!

All In One Updates

I am so thrilled to have heard from Ms. Kay Miller. It was a short note from her but it really got my heart pouncing. LOL! Thanks Kay!

Here are some updates on the kits. In the midst of being excited for the new quad, please know that I have not forgotten the little ones. Although I set very high standards for kits born in the rabbitry, please do know that I do love each and everyone of them no matter how they grow up to be. It is too early to judge the kits at the moment and I would want to give them the opportunity to grow up before I pass any judgment on their conformity. But if you really have to know, I think it is rather obvious they all do look pet quality. But please bear in mind that they are in their UGLIES stage right now. I still think that they are not too bad for starters.

I can see that Truffles is a greater improvement from Noobie’s litter. I believe it is mainly because Holly Hope is a better looking Holland Lop.

img_1011

Holly Hope’s looking better after raising Truffles. Not sure if she’ll make the cut for the show in July. Don’t you love her color?

Let’s pray that those ears will stop growing soon and the head will POP later. Long ears are sign of the Normal gene.

img_1055

I have to admit that Thunder happens to be my heart bunny. LOL! But I am not bias. I love all of them but somehow Thunder gives me a different feeling. He is such a sweet boy. Ever eagerly waiting for me at the door for pats.

img_1034

Clark happens to be my heart bunny as well. LOL!!! :P…Look at him! He’s a cutie. And today he shower me with his LUV! I was sprayed big time by him. You must think I am crazy being so happy being sprayed at by a buck. Ask any rabbit breeder and I am sure they can relate to this very easily. One of the signs that you have been made a slave by your rabbits.

img_1033

And another heart bunny of mine. Carmel is a natural poser. She poses all the time and I believe she knows the camera quite well. She’ll strike a pose whenever I am holding the camera up. Very cute.

img_1032

You guessed it! Haley’s my heart bunny too. Actually all my rabbits are my heart bunnies!!! LOL!

Haley’s a little fiesty at the moment. She is very good at using her fists. Reminds me of the chinese block buster movie IP MAN when Bruce Lee’s master make the finishing move using both fists hitting the opponent non-stop. LOL!!!

img_1044

And this is every bunny’s HEART BABY! Seen here adored by Thunder.

img_1048

Beth adores them as well but I am a little worried that the bucks may spray at her. And to be at her height, she will be an easy target to be drenched by the golden showers. Thank God nothing happened! I guess Clark only wanted me. LOL!

Ugly Bunlings

I believe all the 4 kits are going through the ugly phase now. Everyone knows that patience is the name of the game with Holland Lops. I rather have them ugly now and pretty later than looking like champs now but grow up ugly.

Truffles is 42 days old today and the rest are 30 days old.

Anyhow, with the help of my lovely wife, I took some photos of their genitals to let you take a wild guess their genders.
