Meet Pixie Blu

Seemed to be a normal little kit

I was really excited to find a little broken blue tort kit in the nest box 4 weeks ago. The little kit grew up just like any other ordinary kit but at 2nd week, its growth somehow took a little halt. Apparently it stop suckling and seemed to be a little fader. We sometimes call these faders, pixie and generally, they do not live a long life. Nonetheless, I kept on trying.

Cute little 2 week old

While looking at little Pixie Blu, I cannot stop but to wonder about a theory I once read on how the 3 sizes of the Poodle dog breed was produced. Apparently in each litter of puppies in dogs, they bound to be 25% of the puppies exhibiting dwarfism traits. From the Standard Poodle, the 25% dwarfs are used for breeding and that produced the Miniature Poodle and the process is repeated until they obtained the Toy Poodle. And rumours has it that they have successfully produced the Teacup Poodle. Not sure how far that is true.

Anyway, we all know the reason behind Pixie Blu. Sadly, it is the double dwarf gene acting up and sometimes they are called a runt. Perhaps a peanut that lived a little longer?

Look out down under!

I sure hope Pixie Blu live a long and normal life as I am doing all that I can to keep it alive and healthy. I do not mind having the smallest and cutest Holland Lop in town.

How not to love such an adorable and lovable little thing?

Off to an Amazing Start of 2011

Pinky new year!

When I first started off breeding the imports, I got a little worried that my herd was slowly being overrun by broken colored Holland Lops. Then as of late, I have been getting many solids and that too got me a little worried. I always find balance in the things that I do and I would love to have a good balanced number of both the Broken and Solid varieties in the herd.

I believe these 2 broken black kits just helped me balance things up. Hope to see more balancers coming and of course overall well balanced Holland Lops to boot!

On another sad note, I was sadden to see rabbits being sold at inflated prices at shopping malls. Very inferior quality stuff. I feel sorry for the buyers especially all the impulse buyers. Nothing much I can do to help them if they choose to be ignorant. It’s very very sad indeed…

Now, back to a happier note, I just received photos of Tru-Luv Betty, Tru-Luv Wilma’s littermate. She has grown to be a very pretty doe filled with BONE!

Check these photos out. I am so glad that her owner has taken good care of her and it shows!

OMG! Just look at those stumpy front legs!!!!

I really need to get there to put my hands on her and pose her for a few photos.

And what really makes my heart smile is that, I have been blessed with the best buyers/adopters/customers/friends in this bunny hobby! They always keep me updated on the rabbits obtained from me. That is the best feeling anyone can get out of this hobby. A feeling that you will never ever have the privilege to experience if you do not know where your rabbit(s) are…

I paid my dues, 2010 retrospective

I still remember the evening of April 17th, 2008. I could almost saved the live of a little solid chocolate kit together with Holly Hope. For the rest of the story, go to my post entitled “I cannot take another DEATH“.

2.5 years later, I finally got some chocolates popping up. In the midst of all the happiness, it is truly the hard work that I would like to celebrate. The encouraging friends in the hobby are those that I hold close to my heart. I am very grateful that they always kept me afloat in this hobby. Many times giving up seemed to be the best thing to do but somehow there is always a fellow bunny friend giving me a nudge.

Twirl & Mars

Most of my bunny friends has been sending baby bunny prayers to me and I believe end of 2010 proves that those prayers has been answered. I am not saying that they are already perfect Chocolate Holland Lops for now but at least it is a good start for me.

Many things has happened in 2010 and here are some of the things I would love to cheer to:

  • Another year of amazing friendship and new friends found
  • All the beautiful kits born in Meadow Haven
  • I am able to palpate and even count kits in the doe’s womb at 10 days (finally!)
  • Another year being a proud member of the amazing ARBA & HLRSC
  • Being appointed the Representative for ARBA District 9
  • Seeing progress with MROC
  • Seeing more good home breeders taking steps to breed ethically

It will be a very busy year ahead. I am sure 2011 will bring many happiness and sorrows at the same time.  With the help with all friends, I am sure all obstacles will be conquered.

My new year resolution for 2011:

  • Get MROC to run in the full capacity of an official club
  • Hard copy newsletters for all MROC members
  • Regular activities for MROC members
  • Continue to breed for quality ethically
  • Sharing rabbits with those who are as serious in the hobby
  • Attending ARBA convention

Goodnight and cheers everyone!

Rainy Night, Green Tea, Christmas Carols & Cute Bunnies

I wish tomorrow’s a holiday as it just poured like there’s no tomorrow this evening. I love the cool weather as it helps me save electricity bills – LOL! With the rain replacing the snow, it is difficult not to feel the Christmas season slowly creeping into our lives. The rabbits in my life makes this season even sweeter.

So here I was having a little “down” time thinking of what to do after a wonderful dinner. Capturing stills of my rabbits is definitely a great escape for me and it really puts my mind at ease. I picked up my gear, got the table ready and I started clicking away.

The results were wonderful I must say. I finally got some decent photos of McNite Noir. For the longest time, I was trying to get photos of him with visible eyes and features. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he is not a Fuzzy.

Tru-Luv McNite Noir. Finally we can see his eyes!

Tru-Luv Symphony is such a doll. I just can’t stop clicking my camera. She is pretty typey right now and I really do hope she stays that way. Really love those short rounded ears.

Tru-Luv Symphony. This is make anyone melt!

Such a cute face.

Another cute little bulldog in the making...

Her cuteness is deafening!
