3 Juniors & 1 Senior

I finally had the time to chillax this morning and how else can I spend my time other than snapping some nice photos of the bunnies. The “TumbleTorts” are now exactly 3 months 5 days. That makes them pre-junior age. Sibylla is 6 months and 14 days and that makes her a senior.

Barney spotting a V on his forehead

Barney again, I believe this is what they call having bones to burn! LOL!

Fred - Just look at his cheeks inherited from Thunder. Love em!

Tru-Luv Fred. Sorry, not for sale - LOL!

Tru-Luv Wilma. She's in a superb mood today. Posing naturally for me.

More puppy pose from Wilma

A little more serious pose now. Love the bone and I hope she grow into those long ears.

Sibylla at 6 months. What a cutie...

Sibylla has a certain look inherited from her Dam's line and I hope to work on that. Hopefully steer the next generation towards massive heads.

It is amazing how the quality of rabbits can be improved tremendously with just one generation when you breed good rabbits from superb lines. If all breeders realize this fact, there will be less abandoned pets out there. Unfortunately, quality is not in the minds of many but quantity is. Quantity equates to more “$$$$” for most. As a dear friend told me recently that the world is changing, there is a wave of change coming as far as this is concerned, beware backyard breeders of all kinds!

On another hand, many people told me that my rabbits look huge in pictures. So to put everything in perspective, here’s a little measurement I’ve done and the photo below illustrates the actual size of Tru-Luv Fred.

8 inches x 8 inches

Candid Shots

I went through the photo collections and found that I have missed out some shots that I like. Here’s a few photos of the bunnies to brighten up the blog.

The old matriarch, Carmel

Lifebearer of the herd, Holly Hope

Fred, Thunder’s Clone

If you know enough breeder friends, most of them will tell you that most of their champs are pulled out from the bottom cages. There are many dark horses in this hobby. The right term to use is, growing them out. Certain lines mature much slower than others. But if space and time is not an issue, Holland kits should be given a chance to grow. The best thing to do is not to look at them at all and they will surprise you one day.

That is the case with Fred.  And since there is no successful buyer, I’ll be keeping him.

I call that my HAMBURGER!

What a Cutie Pie!

I really like this guy!

Professional Grooming

The moment Rachel saw this post https://truluvrabbitry.com/2009/09/19/the-terror-shaver/, she knew that I needed a lot of help. Since then, she has been asking me when I’ll be able to allow her to help me. I have been procrastinating for the longest time until recently I felt the temperature rising in Klang Valley. I personally have not been sweating so much until recently. If I am without fur and feeling so uncomfortable, it must be hard on the rabbits I thought.

Finally, I committed myself to arrange for a grooming session and have Rachel come over and work her wonders on the bucks. Rachel has been placing well in the local grooming competitions but the catch is, she’s a pro with dogs. In my opinion, any pro groomer can be much better than me in the grooming department. Rachel brought her grooming equipments with her in a huge box and it weighs heavier than Thunder and Clark put together – LOL!

As we’re working against time (she has only approximately 3 hours to spare), we quickly set off to work. Clark was first and being her first bunny grooming session, it took us a good 1 hour to get him done.

Since Rachel is very familiar with grooming dogs, I gave her a task to groom the bucks similar to how she would groom a Miniature Schnauzer – LOL! I told her I would love to see Thunder and Clark in SKIRTS too!

And that is exactly what Rachel did..

Rachel working on Clark

Another person that can strike a good conversation with my rabbits!

The end results are absolutely MARVELOUS!!! It is pretty obvious that the bucks love it too! They have extra ventilation – LOL!

GrrrRrr...Sexy Back!

He really looks like a PUPPY DOG now!

Thank you so much Rachel for spending precious time grooming at TLR! We shall see you soon!

In The Midst Of Black & White

Clark says, "Bonjour"

Carmel, my all time favorite doe

Haley in her best behavior!

Sibylla proving to me again that it is very difficult to capture photos of black rabbits. I just can't get it bright enough to see her eyes. Darn!

Massive Thunder!

Holly Hope looking good despite going through a major molt

Java (Brown Sugar) acting like a puppy!

Little Barney was the last rabbit I manage to capture photos of before my camera ran out of batts!

Little Fred has good bones. The ears are expanding but I can assure you that he does not LIE...

Little Wilma is definitely a normal. I am looking forward that she'll be a good brood doe.

I think Little Betty should stay here a little longer because she's different each time I take a good look at her. LOL!

Happy Bunny Weekend!

The kits are really growing up cute and cuddly. There are a lot of differences with this litter as compared to previous litters when they were at the same age in terms of appearances and feel. Groomed a couple of bunnies this morning and just had to take some photos too. Here are a couple of photos to share. Happy weekend everyone!

Thunder

Fred

And also, the many faces of Clark…

Whatcha staring at, mate?

Uhuh?

Stay where you are!

There is a reason why Holland Lops have this “bulldoggish” look especially around the region of their faces. I have written something similar but I believe some of my readers are still unaware exactly what contributes to this “wide” look.

If you would like to evaluate or find the reason why your rabbit have a narrow look, take a front profile of it and do the following:

Draw a triangle through the tip of the eyes and join up at the tip of the nose

Realign the 2 diagonal lines

Short diagonal lines are indication that you have good width of head.

And NO, I did not ask you nor condone anyone discarding any rabbit with longer diagonal lines! So before you twist the intent of my post, just need to get that clarified to shut you up! SheeeEEeeeeesh!

Happy Chinese New Year 2010 Everyone!

I believe that I finally have something long to write and with loads of photos. Since it is a joyous occasion, I would like to spend some extra time posting a long one. This is my birthday treat to everyone!

First up, I am sure all of you remember this post and will definitely remember this photo:

I am glad to announce that after almost 5 months and 2 litter of babies, THUNDER IS BACK!

Ohh La La!

A little more and he'll be complete!

Isn't he CUTE?

And I wonder how many of the little torts would be like him. Either way, I am pretty sure they will be good stuff!

They just can't stop moving!

Sibylla is growing up pretty too. Right now she has a little “drain” in the middle of her head where the white patch is. There is a huge crater on top of her head in between the ear cartilages.

Can't wait for her to finish her molt

Since I setup my backdrop near where the FurryButts are, I just can’t resist the temptation to snap a few photos of them too. First up was Buttons. She is so huge that she practically took up the entire platform. She is approximately 4x Sibylla’s size. If she gets any bigger, she can pass as a Flemish Giant. She is just so nice to cuddle with. So much meat!

And she can pose too!

Bailey on the other hand is a very shy boy. I think he misses Hans a lot and part of his confidence seemed to have faded away. I take time to handle him everyday for at least 10 minutes but there isn’t much improvements. He loves his little box very much.

Shy guy

Then we have little Yohji boy. It seemed like yesterday when Yohji was born. It was a very cold rainy morning. Unix had her little of 6, let me recall their names Yohji, Bandie, Adinna, Floppie, Mirrhi & Kiki! Their father was Lumix. It was Unix’ 1st litter and all of them survived.

Unix

Lumix

It was my first attempt to develop the Holland Lops using the local lop ears and I must say looking at Yohji, I was pretty close. He has nice crown and has decent bone on him. He could easily pass off as a normal or brood buck.

Yohji the vain pot!

Another cute shot of him

I should have added some mandarin oranges as props but I believe Buttons and Yohji is “orangy” enough for such a joyous occasion.

Here wishing everyone A Happy Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai and travel safe throughout this festive season!

Poor Dasher

I got a little bored today and SB suggested that I go let one of the bunnies loose. I did just that and …

I come, I see...

Beth shouted, "Dad dad, take him away!"

Santa said, "Ho Oh No No, poor Dasher!"

Beth said, “Dad dad, my reindeer is wet…”

Oooops!

"Santa, I feel violated!"

Farewell Skor, You’re Always My Boy

My last chance to trance Skor...

With the heaviest of heart, I bid farewell to my favorite boy Skor. He shall begin his life as a very pampered pet Holland Lop with his new owner. Like any other goodbyes, the only consolation for me is that my boy Skor is promised a good home.

Good teeth

I am very grateful that his new owner has contacted me and shown much interest. I count my lucky stars each time someone approaches me for my rabbits and it clicks right away. There are many things we feel with our 5 senses but there are certain things that we sense with our heart – SINCERITY & HONESTY.

Clean vent

His 4 digit tattoo

Skor has done his bit in providing us a few of his offspring that has brighten up a few homes with their antics and unconditional love.

My only wish is that, he will live his life to the fullest and enjoy every single day hence forth!

Go make me proud Skor boy!

Another one to miss...
