Happy Easter 2010!

Here wishing all a very Happy Easter 2010!

Carmel representing the TLR herd

Just a bunny in Carmel without the eggs...

And I have been dealing with rabbits so much that I was summoned to house sit the Furfurries as a penance. So it is everything bunnies this Easter for me. Not sure if it is my true calling and vocation in life? It can be very scary and overwhelming to see a rabbit everywhere you go and to have rabbits constantly on your mind. But I was glad to have done a great job over at the Furfurries…

All clean and tidy! Lucky buns!

No more Easter bunny please!

What’s Been Happening

There has been a lot of changes for me recently and that explains why I have not been writing much. Life in general is pretty interesting and we all go through phases that knock us out of our ways. The next few weeks would be crucial for me as I pick out who I am keeping and who I am sharing out as good pets or brood. I have improved the sale and purchase agreement for those who get rabbits from me.

The FurryButts are going home tomorrow so I’ll be missing them, I can’t wait to check out their new crib and hopefully their owners will start blogging again.

Oh yeah, it’s Good Friday today, I hope everyone “celebrating” this day is having a good time reflecting on some spiritual stuff. Not forgetting, Easter is just another 2 days away. I hope no bunny will become casualty during this EGG and BUNNY season.

As for the bunnies in TLR, they are sort of enjoying a new environment.

Other than all these random ramblings, I’ve got lots of chores to do as I am gonna “bunny-cum-house sitting” for a friend. It’s gonna be a short weekend!

As you can see, I have nothing much to update for now…

Clearing the stinky AIR!

There is something that I would like to make it very/extremely clear here. Tru-Luv Rabbitry is operated solely by 1 person. All this while, I am sure you have noticed that I always use “I”. It is never a WE because in my opinion, many people out there uses WE to make themselves feel stronger sounding “collective”.

That being said, all these efforts that you see through this website, is the sole creation and hard work of 1 person, I.

Therefore, I want to make it clear that Tru-Luv Rabbitry is not associated to any other breeders/rabbitry in Malaysia unless otherwise specified! All the rabbits that I have right now, is imported through my own effort and hard work. I am proud to say that I have very good friends in the USA to help me out every step of the way.

I did start off in the wrong footing with a HUGE rip off but I believe that my rabbitry has came full circle with the help of many friends overseas. I really do have the many friends to thank and I cannot possibly list them all here as it would be a super huge post.

Please take note of anyone using Tru-Luv Rabbitry name to boost his/her sale is outright unethical. That is the reason why that when you get a TLR bunny, it comes with a tattoo on its left ear that matches the number stated on the pedigree. As far as I know, Tru-Luv Rabbitry is the only rabbitry that uses this identification method in Malaysia right now.

And as a proper introduction, I would like to say…

Hi, my name is Tim, I own and manage the hobbit sized Tru-Luv Rabbitry. I work with a very small (in all massive standards) herd of Holland Lops of distinction quality and it is hard to blind me using colors, I hope that is how it is with you too! I truly believe in Quality and not Quantity. Thank you for visiting and I hope you find this website interesting!

In The Midst Of Black & White

Clark says, "Bonjour"

Carmel, my all time favorite doe

Haley in her best behavior!

Sibylla proving to me again that it is very difficult to capture photos of black rabbits. I just can't get it bright enough to see her eyes. Darn!

Massive Thunder!

Holly Hope looking good despite going through a major molt

Java (Brown Sugar) acting like a puppy!

Little Barney was the last rabbit I manage to capture photos of before my camera ran out of batts!

Little Fred has good bones. The ears are expanding but I can assure you that he does not LIE...

Little Wilma is definitely a normal. I am looking forward that she'll be a good brood doe.

I think Little Betty should stay here a little longer because she's different each time I take a good look at her. LOL!

Spring & Easter is upon us!

With Easter just less than 2 weeks away, I am thinking about the many rabbits that will be made pets. Some will have an everlasting home while many more will suffer abandonment if not death. This is the issue that many ethical breeders are thinking about. Some may even refuse to sell rabbits during this period of time. The cause of this is definitely consumerism and how marketing has turned tradition into a multimillion dollar business. The story is always the same, starting off with ignorant parents getting a little innocent pet for their children that soon loses interest in their new found pet.

We all know that rabbit is just a symbol of fertility and is always used to signify life due to its prolific breeding nature. Rabbits are also used to denote the dawn of the Spring season where they can be found in abundance hopping around in the meadows.

I can’t say the same for us living here in Malaysia. Though we have flowers blooming all year round, I don’t consider that we’re having Spring all year round because of how warm the temperature is. Though we do not share the physical Spring with our friends in countries with 4 seasons, we do share a common celebration in Easter.

Nonetheless, Spring & Easter is a season to celebrate the abundance of LIFE.

Someone's up to no good!

Lop For The Sake Of Lopping

It’s been a while since I write long ramblings and I just read a post in the local forum that basically pushed my patience to the brink of explosion. It just goes to show that no matter how much it is discussed in an open forum, words are mere words and can never penetrate thick skulls.

I have chosen to keep my comments to myself since it is a total waste of time trying to advice.

For the past few months, Malaysians have been introduced to a breed called “LOP EAR”. What a loose name to refer to rabbits with ears falling or drooping. If you have done enough research, the two words “LOP EAR” is used to refer to the LOP BREEDS.

Do you know how many types of Lop Ears there are?

French Lop, Meissener Lop, English Lop, German Lop, Holland Lop and Miniature Lop just to name a few. So I am pretty much very confused because some breeders label their rabbits LOP EAR and there is always this “LOP EAR FOR SALE”.

The reason for this is because to a certain extend, TLR has highlighted that not all are Holland Lops. So as an easy way out, breeders found it more convenient and “safe” to just use a general term “LOP EAR”.

Honestly, whenever I see “LOP EAR” it only shows me how ignorant and ill informed the breeder is. And it is obvious that the breeder himself or herself do not even know what breed is being put up for sale. I am also convinced that it is a form of DECEPTION to get those unaware to purchase these rabbits. I wonder sometimes if it is right religiously to deceive in business. Well never mind that because rabbits are made for our “rezeki” or profit.

That being said, even each lop ear breed has got a standard to adhere to in weight and physical characteristics. For those who care to know and understand, here is a good guide to the Standard of Perfection for Holland Lops by James & Emily Meagher of Proud Ear’s Rabbitry – http://www.proudears.com/standard.html.

It is better for me to just stop writing here. If only 50% of what I wrote here is understandable, it is good enough that I have put a message across effectively. And truthfully, I have no time for pet quality breeders. They are just a waste of time.

"Hop for the sake of hopping, Lop for the sake of lopping"

Five Weeks Cuties

Boy #1 is absolutely awesome!

Boy #1 - This is exactly what I am talking about. Just look at him pose here. This is exactly what I have in mind of a perfect HL kit.

Here's Boy #1 again

Boy #2 - He is not too bad but I'll like to see thicker and stumpier front legs

Boy #2 - I kinda like the curvature on his head right now. Very cute little guy

Girl #1 - The girls are not that spectacular right now. Quite a bit more to fix up but I hope they are worthy of being broods at the least

Girl #1 again. Love the bones on this doe

Girl #2 - Somehow her coat seemed to be softer comparing to the rest. I sure hope it isn't fuzzy

By the way, this litter is now known as the Tumble Falling Torts. They are just a clumsy lot and never fail to give me a rude shock with how they love “committing suicide” all the time!

Fabulous Fours at Fourth Week

Look at the smug on that face

I like all the kits born in Meadow Haven but this litter is the most amazing one thus far. All kits are pretty consistent on most of the traits. I have been told that breeders could tell if kits are different after spending some time and I believe this is what they meant. Somehow, they are just different. The best word I could use to describe this feeling is intuition. I am not sure but my guess is, if you know your herd well, this sort of feeling could be felt easily.

The kits weren’t all cooperative today but here are some of the photos that I took this afternoon.

Boy #1 - Absolutely love his bone and I would like to think that he is my Thunder Jr.

Boy #1 - Front

Boy #2 - Not too bad, I like his head most

Boy #2 - Front legs not as thick as I want but he has got broad chest

Girl #1 - She is darker just like her mommy. I like her head too.

Girl #1 - A keeper for brood at least

Girl #2 - She is such a baby but has got big head

Girl #2 - Pretty lazy when it comes to posing

For now, I’ll like to keep and hold on to them for much longer.

And for those who are interested to have show quality pets, please drop me an email at truluvrabbitry@gmail.com. I have a couple of RETIRED Show Quality Does (IMPORTED) to pass along.
