Tru-Luv Betty & Tru-Luv Wilma

I have a feeling that most people are already bored with photos of my rabbits posing in certain poses repeated over and over again. I do not have any better photos to share because Holland Lops are basically what we call an upright breed. The Holland Lops generally do not crouch like the other breeds do.

Little has been written about the 2 girls in the litter. Tru-Luv Wilma is definitely the dark horse of the litter. She was the smallest to begin with and I thought she’s a runt. But her growth rate is surprising me. Tru-Luv Betty on the other hand was the doe I had my eyes on but as of late, she’s falling behind Wilma.

Either way, both of them have really nice thick front legs.

These 4 need a lot more time to grow but they are already very different at 8 weeks. First time I see certain traits that I have not seen before thus far with rabbits this age.

OMG! We’re On CuteOverload.com!!!

The Chosen Photo

J & J just dropped a little comment telling me that TLR is being featured on CuteOverload.com.

Indeed, it was Sibylla in the food bowl!!!

Here’s the link, http://cuteoverload.com/2010/03/17/when-irish-eyes-are-smiling-they-seem-to-be-mocking-you/

Thank you so very much to that special person that took the time to submit the photo on my behalf!

As you can see, I no longer fit in that "pot" anymore

That was me!

I'm all grown up now...

I am happy Paul found me...

Tru-Luv Barney

Today’s bonding time for little Barney and I had the mood to snap a few photos of him. The 4 of them are 7 weeks old now. They will be weaned starting next week. It has been very interesting to see them grow from just tiny little pinkies and it seemed as though it was yesterday.

I think I saw a little crown growing?

Barney putting on a "don't mess with me" look!

Barney, not the purple dino please...

On a crazy note, I am always envious of breeders who are working on “COLORED” Holland Lops. One thing for sure, I am very confused because the Tort doesn’t seemed to be considered a color. I wonder what it is. But anyhow, I have just embarked on a new journey. The colored Hollands bandwagon/bug has caught me unaware and now I am totally addicted. I have a new found love for the color – GREEN. YES! I’m “developing” GREEN Holland Lops!

Isn't he perfect?

Happy Bunny Weekend!

The kits are really growing up cute and cuddly. There are a lot of differences with this litter as compared to previous litters when they were at the same age in terms of appearances and feel. Groomed a couple of bunnies this morning and just had to take some photos too. Here are a couple of photos to share. Happy weekend everyone!

Thunder

Fred

And also, the many faces of Clark…

Whatcha staring at, mate?

Uhuh?

Stay where you are!

There is a reason why Holland Lops have this “bulldoggish” look especially around the region of their faces. I have written something similar but I believe some of my readers are still unaware exactly what contributes to this “wide” look.

If you would like to evaluate or find the reason why your rabbit have a narrow look, take a front profile of it and do the following:

Draw a triangle through the tip of the eyes and join up at the tip of the nose

Realign the 2 diagonal lines

Short diagonal lines are indication that you have good width of head.

And NO, I did not ask you nor condone anyone discarding any rabbit with longer diagonal lines! So before you twist the intent of my post, just need to get that clarified to shut you up! SheeeEEeeeeesh!

Yabba-Bunna-Dabba-DoooOoooo

Since using the funkadelic and retro background, I have been thinking of colors. I decided to give the kits their names and was looking for a TV program that has 4 characters in which 2 are boys and 2 are girls. I finally settle for…

Binky Free GC L&R Breelynn

GC L&R Breelynn is one name to remember in the Holland Lop circle. She is the #1 Broken Senior Doe at ARBA Convention ’09. Bred by Linda & Ron Jinnings and owned by Jennifer Harris, Breelynn is sorely missed by all of us that have came to know her.

It is a sad day for me today because I know Jennifer through our regular chats and like everyone else that knows her, we share the feeling of losing a very beautiful little doe. I know how much Breelynn means to you Jennifer, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Breelynn, “GONE TOO SOON” indeed…

Lop For The Sake Of Lopping

It’s been a while since I write long ramblings and I just read a post in the local forum that basically pushed my patience to the brink of explosion. It just goes to show that no matter how much it is discussed in an open forum, words are mere words and can never penetrate thick skulls.

I have chosen to keep my comments to myself since it is a total waste of time trying to advice.

For the past few months, Malaysians have been introduced to a breed called “LOP EAR”. What a loose name to refer to rabbits with ears falling or drooping. If you have done enough research, the two words “LOP EAR” is used to refer to the LOP BREEDS.

Do you know how many types of Lop Ears there are?

French Lop, Meissener Lop, English Lop, German Lop, Holland Lop and Miniature Lop just to name a few. So I am pretty much very confused because some breeders label their rabbits LOP EAR and there is always this “LOP EAR FOR SALE”.

The reason for this is because to a certain extend, TLR has highlighted that not all are Holland Lops. So as an easy way out, breeders found it more convenient and “safe” to just use a general term “LOP EAR”.

Honestly, whenever I see “LOP EAR” it only shows me how ignorant and ill informed the breeder is. And it is obvious that the breeder himself or herself do not even know what breed is being put up for sale. I am also convinced that it is a form of DECEPTION to get those unaware to purchase these rabbits. I wonder sometimes if it is right religiously to deceive in business. Well never mind that because rabbits are made for our “rezeki” or profit.

That being said, even each lop ear breed has got a standard to adhere to in weight and physical characteristics. For those who care to know and understand, here is a good guide to the Standard of Perfection for Holland Lops by James & Emily Meagher of Proud Ear’s Rabbitry – http://www.proudears.com/standard.html.

It is better for me to just stop writing here. If only 50% of what I wrote here is understandable, it is good enough that I have put a message across effectively. And truthfully, I have no time for pet quality breeders. They are just a waste of time.

"Hop for the sake of hopping, Lop for the sake of lopping"

Five Weeks Cuties

Boy #1 is absolutely awesome!

Boy #1 - This is exactly what I am talking about. Just look at him pose here. This is exactly what I have in mind of a perfect HL kit.

Here's Boy #1 again

Boy #2 - He is not too bad but I'll like to see thicker and stumpier front legs

Boy #2 - I kinda like the curvature on his head right now. Very cute little guy

Girl #1 - The girls are not that spectacular right now. Quite a bit more to fix up but I hope they are worthy of being broods at the least

Girl #1 again. Love the bones on this doe

Girl #2 - Somehow her coat seemed to be softer comparing to the rest. I sure hope it isn't fuzzy

By the way, this litter is now known as the Tumble Falling Torts. They are just a clumsy lot and never fail to give me a rude shock with how they love “committing suicide” all the time!
