Binky Free GC L&R Breelynn

GC L&R Breelynn is one name to remember in the Holland Lop circle. She is the #1 Broken Senior Doe at ARBA Convention ’09. Bred by Linda & Ron Jinnings and owned by Jennifer Harris, Breelynn is sorely missed by all of us that have came to know her.

It is a sad day for me today because I know Jennifer through our regular chats and like everyone else that knows her, we share the feeling of losing a very beautiful little doe. I know how much Breelynn means to you Jennifer, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Breelynn, “GONE TOO SOON” indeed…

Bid For A HL Painting

I am helping my dad to send 2 Holland Lop paintings to be auctioned at Loveland, Colorado in April 2010. It is in conjunction with the 2010 HLRSC Nationals hosted by Hollands & Friends.

We would like to thank Kay Miller for appreciating my dad’s work and allowing us to share it with the rabbit world. We do hope that they will be well received and appreciated.

Have a nice Nationals everyone!

And for those of you who do not have the slightest idea why I am so obsessed with this bunny raising business, check out the video below.

Happy Chinese New Year 2010 Everyone!

I believe that I finally have something long to write and with loads of photos. Since it is a joyous occasion, I would like to spend some extra time posting a long one. This is my birthday treat to everyone!

First up, I am sure all of you remember this post and will definitely remember this photo:

I am glad to announce that after almost 5 months and 2 litter of babies, THUNDER IS BACK!

Ohh La La!

A little more and he'll be complete!

Isn't he CUTE?

And I wonder how many of the little torts would be like him. Either way, I am pretty sure they will be good stuff!

They just can't stop moving!

Sibylla is growing up pretty too. Right now she has a little “drain” in the middle of her head where the white patch is. There is a huge crater on top of her head in between the ear cartilages.

Can't wait for her to finish her molt

Since I setup my backdrop near where the FurryButts are, I just can’t resist the temptation to snap a few photos of them too. First up was Buttons. She is so huge that she practically took up the entire platform. She is approximately 4x Sibylla’s size. If she gets any bigger, she can pass as a Flemish Giant. She is just so nice to cuddle with. So much meat!

And she can pose too!

Bailey on the other hand is a very shy boy. I think he misses Hans a lot and part of his confidence seemed to have faded away. I take time to handle him everyday for at least 10 minutes but there isn’t much improvements. He loves his little box very much.

Shy guy

Then we have little Yohji boy. It seemed like yesterday when Yohji was born. It was a very cold rainy morning. Unix had her little of 6, let me recall their names Yohji, Bandie, Adinna, Floppie, Mirrhi & Kiki! Their father was Lumix. It was Unix’ 1st litter and all of them survived.

Lumix

It was my first attempt to develop the Holland Lops using the local lop ears and I must say looking at Yohji, I was pretty close. He has nice crown and has decent bone on him. He could easily pass off as a normal or brood buck.

Yohji the vain pot!

Another cute shot of him

I should have added some mandarin oranges as props but I believe Buttons and Yohji is “orangy” enough for such a joyous occasion.

Here wishing everyone A Happy Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai and travel safe throughout this festive season!

Little Miss Muffet Adopted!

I am suppose to write this post yesterday. Due to the many happenings that took up all my time, I only have the time to do it right now. The decision was made more than a month ago. The inspiration behind the decision was firstly based on how the “Chestnut” family is extremely good rabbit owners. Secondly, we all felt that Truffles needed a good companion now that he’s neutered.

So off Muffet went to stay in her forever home with the Chestnut family. I am extremely happy that they love her very much and especially happy that we have full visitation access to both Truffles and Muffet.

Confusing Black & White World

We brought Skor to visit one of our dear friends and his children – Tridus, Tinga and Truffles. Truffles and Bugsy are boarding over with D & TJ. That’s the amazing thing about having bunny friends. Traveling couldn’t be much easier without friends to look after our furkids.

Truffles and Bugsy’s owners are out of town celebrating Eid with their families. I was suppose to take them in for boarding but had some last minute changes and they ended up with D and TJ. Since we can’t have them over for boarding, we decided to drop by their house for a little gathering.

I was looking forward to putting Skor with his two sons together for a little family portrait.

Can you recognize them? Tridus, Truffles & Skor in that order!

Holland Lop Families I Love

I feel the need to mention 2 families that raises Holland Lops and I hold extremely close to my heart. Being a family oriented person, I feel proud and honored to know these 2 families. They are some of the nicest Holland Lop breeders that has inspired me in both raising rabbits and also as role models in raising children.

The first family that I would love to mention is the Usakowski family. I first knew about them when I stumbled upon their wonderful website and blog at http://threelittleladiesrabbitry.com/. Their blog is phenomenal and mine is nothing compared to theirs. And as you can see, the rabbitry is named after the 3 daughters in this family. The three girls are award winners in the 4-H program for showmanship. Their rabbits has been doing very well on the show table as well. If you remember, I did wrote about their youngest daughter Taylor and how she should be a role model for all children in the hobby of raising rabbits. I am extremely honored to have known this wonderful family. They are always there giving me great advice and encouragements. I want to take this opportunity to thank the 4 wonderful ladies and 1 very kind man of Three Little Ladies Rabbitry, collectively known as the Usakowski family.

The 2nd family that I am extreme honored to know is the Butler family from Michigan. Like the Usakowski family, they also raise Holland Lops. Harley and Raven are two beautiful daughters to Sydney who together do most of the bunny chores at Butler Boot Camp rabbitry. I particularly like the styles in Harley’s Holland Lop herd which hails from different competitive lines in the area they live in.

There are so many things in common between these 2 families but one major issue that I find very appalling and disappointed is the need for the parents to shield their children from very nasty people (adults!). There is a saying that goes “Live and Let Live”. What the saying means to me personally is that it simply tells us to give someone else a lifeline and in return we are given ours as well. How many times do we find ourselves caught up in the “CULTURE OF DEATH”? We want so much for others to die and be unsuccessful, and in doing so, we tend to cut off someone’s lifeline. I can understand how nasty things can happen between adults but some adults don’t even give children the chance to shine. How selfish is that? There is only 1 reason to act nasty in the midst of competitiveness. It is for recognition that could lead to someone being able to earn tons of money riding on the recognition. I totally don’t believe in that bull crap although I just wrote it. But do not be surprise why people “slit throats” at rabbit shows for that reason. It does get to that level believe it or not (although this is not Ripley’s).

Life is so much bigger than all the trophies one can collect. I have reasons to believe that nasty people are highly insecure people. They have a facade. Their facade is in their rabbits. They hide behind the rabbits and trophies obtained through their rabbits. And that seemed to mean the world to them. What is the rational in that I wonder as I just can’t find the relevance sometimes. A facade will never ever reflect the true person we are.

There is so much to life than all these petty issues and didn’t God say, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.”

I know we tend to suppress our conscience to get away with things or even to achieve our selfish desires by cutting edges. If that is what we need to do, the least we could do is to leave the children out of it. If you are an adult without the presence of a conscience and as I feel sorry for you, I urge you to go pick on someone your own age if you are that childish and such a sore loser amidst the competition. I pray that God will have mercy on your sold out soul.

Let’s quit targeting gracious parents that spend most of their time/hard work nurturing their children the best they can by conveniently passing remarks such as them using their children to gain glory off a few trophies and titles. Glory is only made for God mind you!

And as for all families raising the Holland Lops, keep up the great job!

Noobie’s New Mansion

I noticed that most rabbit people are nocturnal. We like to be owls at night. I just received an email with attached photos and it is 2.13 a.m.

There are a few things that can make my day bright and this is 2nd right next to having kits. Nothing beats placing rabbits into homes that absolutely love them!

Noobie is now staying with her life long partner Mickey in a huge NIC cage built by J&J. As usual, I’ll let the photos do all the talking. I really wish to be Noobie sometimes and the photos will tell you why…

1, 2 , 3 LEVELS!

Truffles’ New Home

First of all, I must say that Bugsy is a VERY VERY nice little bunny! This little Siamese Sable (I think ND x Polish) is absolutely beautiful and his color is so amazing! Bugsy belongs to Shahfiq & Adesh (absolutely perfect couple). My parents say they move together – a match made in heaven indeed. LOL!

Shahfiq & Adesh are the proud owners of Tru-Luv Truffles. I am so thrilled to announce that they are photography enthusiasts as well. Just take a look at this photo they took and the amazing setup they have for both Truffles and Bugsy. The things we do for our bunnies – OMG!

Fit for kings!

A Tribute To Benji

A few days back, I received a text message from Hun regarding her 10 year old rabbit Benji. Apparently, Benji has since developed cataract on both eyes.

What amazes me most if that Benji wasn’t on very special diet. He has been on the locally milled pellets and constantly having fresh veges in his diet. Whatever it is, to be able to live 10 years for a rabbit goes to show that his owner must be doing something very right. Benji is an in tact buck that isn’t neutered. These photos show that Benji still have very nice fur condition.

Isn't he handsome?
