A Very Dear Friend Called Karen

I just like to take some time today to write about this very special person that I so often missed mentioning on my blog. I met Karen of Little Criter Farm in one of the Holland Lop groups that I joined. Karen first posted the topic of table breeding while I was waiting for Holly Hope to accept Skor. I then sent a mail to Karen for details how table breeding works. She was so generous to explain in detail and that started off our friendship over cyberspace.

Karen hangs out with a group of Holland Lop breeders that subscribes to the motto “Fellowship, Friendship and Fun”.They breed for show but for them winning is just a bonus. I believe that is the right way it should be. While having fun showing, one should not get too carried away wanting to win badly.

There was a movie acted by John Candy. I was not sure if it was Cool Runnings or some other movie about a certain sport. If I remember correctly, John Candy cheated to stay on top of his game because the devil of winning got the best of him. I observed that in life, we’re always being caught up with situation like these. We sometimes cannot accept not being on top when we have been there all these while.

Losing some is good to knock us off our comfort zone and start working hard again.

Since life is too short, why not just enjoy the ride? And while we’re enjoying the ride, why not enjoy it with friends with the same interests?

I cherish friendships very much and for now, the best friendships made for me are friendships made in Holland Lops.

Karen, if you’re reading this, just wanted to say that you’re such a precious friend. Thank you so much for being yourself. Love you and God bless!

Tru-Luv Rabbitry @ Pet Epicure

Nothing feels better than to hang out with animal people on a Sunday afternoon. It been quite a while since I participated such an outing. I made new friends while trying to promote the rabbitry. I felt right at home although the place was filled with cats. I was happy to have a couple of people interested in the Holland Lop.

I reach the Pet Boutique at approximately 11 am. I was greeted with a very cosy little shop that reminds me of the movie set of Noting Hill. LOL! At one glance you would agree that the shop was very well layout and all products are placed in the most appropriate locations.

There were 2 Cockatiels at the entrance.

Is that a Standard Poodle?! And a Chihuahua!?

img_9952

Cats! Meow!

The breed showcase. I was really amazed by the Maine Coon but I forgot to take a picture of them.

Cats for adoption. Only RM50!

Here are Alicia’s rabbits in the NIC panel.

Skor and Luna was placed right in front of the counter. I could tell that they were a little stressed out Skor especially. LOL….img_9961Being the rabbit expert for the day. LOL…

I believe I avoided many questions today because I was hanging out mostly outside the boutique. Somehow I was sneezing non-stop and I just couldn’t identify what I was allergy to. No offence to Pet Epicure, I believe it was the Guinea Pigs. LOL!!!!

All in all, I really enjoyed myself getting to know new friends and learned so much about cats, scorpions, tarantula and snakes! Yeah, that’s what we were doing outside the boutique. Having PET talks!!!

Hope Pet Epicure all the best for their boarding and adoption services. May 2009 be prosperous!

Thank you very much Alicia, Jonathan & everyone at Pet Epicure!

Teri Reymann: A Very Nice Friend

For the past few weeks, I had the honor to meet a lot of renown rabbit breeders from the US and I would like to write this post for a very special person. I met Teri Reymann from Sonshine Rabbitry not too long ago and I must say that she is one of the nicest people I have ever met on the internet.

It is so amazing how we can put aside our differences in this cyberworld and come togther virtually for many great things like exchanging knowledge, sharing experiences to name but a few.

What caught my attention at first was of course Teri’s Holland Lops. But I must say that she has got killer Netherland Dwarfs in her barn.

What I like most about Teri is her willingness to share unconditionally. Whatever question that you may have, she is always there to give you a hand.

We share something in common the both of us, the DISLIKES for UNETHICAL BREEDERS. We even share some common names of unethical breeders on our “blacklists” too.

Teri works with many rabbits from various top rabbitries in US. And if you find anything that you like, I am sure she could work something out for you.

Everyday I thank God for bringing nice people into my life and I thank Him for crossing our paths, Teri & I.

It does not hurt one bit to talk about nice people that truly deserve a mention.

So from time to time, watch out for the new Category called Friends Of Tru-Luv. These are the people you ought to know in the Rabbit World. But that doesn’t mean you should not approach those not mentioned here. Most rabbit breeders are nice people. Some you will know their true colors only after you deal with them but that’s for a mention another time.

We all should think about rabbit people as very genuine people because they have a heart to love a lesser creature but just becareful when you deal and always deal based on references (Laurie did mention this and I was not smart enough to understand).

There you go, another GOOD rabbitry owner to put into your research collection that is Teri Reymann of Sonshine Rabbitry!

Updates from Melbourne: Bunny Fever @ 1000 Degrees!

There is no telling what you WILL NOT do for your rabbits once you are hit with this CONDITION. I call it condition because I do not want it to sound as bad as a DISEASE. J & J has been hit by this bunny fever bug since Oreo kindled. First, a hutch make over and guess what’s next?

Let’s have a preview of the patio before the make over and after.

Before:

before

One of the Js wants me to emphasize how dirty this one is. I just could not agree. I thought this was decent. But….

After:

after

They totally converted the patio into a superb bunspace! What else can you say except for WOW!?

Make you feel like getting a rabbit and a killer hutch right?

Let’s go through this new bunspace in detail. The lawn was remade by laying wire mesh before the soil and grass went on top. The lawn is sure to be bunny proof from digging.

“What!? A hobbit hole? I think it’s a HopInIt hole! A man-made burrow! Now, step aside MTV Cribs, this is PIMP MA’ HOLE…oops sorry, no profanity, PIMP MA’ BURROW”

dsc_1058

dsc_1059

dsc_1075

Ya’ll wanna know how the BURROW was made? It is a plastic igloo covered with dirt and grass! Talking about creativity! The buhnies love it! This is really innovative beyond human’s ability. You really have to put yourself into the rabbit’s shoes literally to know what they like. I am dumbstruck by my dear friend’s new craze!

I love those seafood platters over at Manhattan Fish Market (fast food chain). But I have never tried Buhny Platter though.

J & J prepared the dish, took some photos and sent to me before diggin’ into the plate. LOL…

Just kiddin’. I do not think anyone will eat these kits with all those fur attached.
