New Bedding In Town!

I Heard There Is Something New In Town!

I Heard There Is Something New In Town!

Indeed, there is something new in town.

After months of try outs and finally gained approval from the bunnies and owners alike, I would like to recommend DryPetz – All Purpose Animal Bedding and Litter material. Made from 100% natural resources and biodegradable, DryPetz can last an entire week without change for individual rabbit litter box and is able to keep odor at bay.

The good thing about DryPetz is that, it does not turn into powder and cause irritation to the rabbits. The house is cleaner without dust all over.

It is available at TinyCritterz.com in 2kg @ RM 8 and 5kg @ RM 15. Place your order now!

PEACE

I believe throughout history, the one thing that follows after chaos is none other than PEACE.

In our own lives, there are many wars and I do not mean physical wars but more of emotional wars. I would like to write more about wars relating to keeping animals as pets.

I am not sure about others, but both my parents have seen me gone through wars growing up having pets throughout my life. The many wars do have a great adverse effect on their pockets too, but that is besides the point. The wars were intense and so much so, they tend to say that I love to “Chook Choong Yap Si Fatt” (henceforth CCYSF in short). CCYSF means “cari pasal” in Bahasa or plainly put, “looking for trouble”.  When translated directly, it means inserting worms into one’s @ss. The Chinese community really have a way of explaining things no thanks to all the proverbs the learned have discovered throughout history. To explain further on the term, worms usually are expelled from the @ss when we go through deworming, getting rid of the “troublesome” worms in the process. Inserting worms into the @ss simply is the opposite denoting how one tries to inject troubles into one’s life. My parents are still clueless as to why I love to keep pets and all the headaches that come along with the hobby. Come to think about it, life could be less burdensome minus all the daily bunny chores, expenses and dramas.

I am sure life for all of us are pretty peaceful if all the dramas did not exist. Somehow, I believe we humans tend to grow restless when there is peace. We need something to jolt us out of our “comfort zone” or peace.

Most of the time, I noticed chaos in a new bunny owner’s life. Mind you, I have had my fair shares of chaotic situations and my wife can attest to that. It boggles her until today why I like to CCYSF just like my parents too. Every pet owner can experience many degrees of chaos while raising their pets. Chaos comes in its greatest force to those who are extra paranoid. Paranoid bunny owners tend to CCYSF more than others. An example would be like those who are so concerned that their doe do not nurse its kits and interferes causing the death of the kits. A grave mistake for not understanding the behavior of a doe in the wild that leaves her nest so not to draw attention to it.

Since 2007, no one can imagine the chaos I went through. But for each chaotic moment, it offered me an opportunity to find PEACE. Imagine that back then, awareness about Hay and quality rabbit food were almost none existent. How far have we come?

There was so much trouble on my mind and the song Bridge Over Troubled Water was just not the song for me.

When we have trouble with finding good rabbit food. THERE IS CHAOS.

When someone acts up and cuts you off rabbit food. THERE IS CHAOS.

When our rabbits go off feed. THERE IS CHAOS.

When someone cheats you by selling you a sick rabbit. THERE IS CHAOS.

When work, family and other life priorities over take our hobby. THERE IS CHAOS.

When our rabbit’s teeth grows awkwardly. THERE IS CHAOS.

When we import rabbits. THERE IS CHAOS.

When we worry for our RM xxxx imported rabbit. THERE IS CHAOS.

When our rabbit dies. THERE IS CHAOS.

When our does are not interested to breed. THERE IS CHAOS.

When our the rabbitry is filled with too many babies. THERE IS CHAOS.

When our rabbit have mites. THERE IS CHAOS.

CHAOS, CHAOS, CHAOS!

There is so much chaos, how can we find PEACE?

For all these CHAOS, I can (not so) gladly say that I have been through them all and have found the best solutions for all of them. What do I do with all these knowledge?

As far as I know, I have poured out into this blog hoping to bring PEACE to fellow rabbit owners.

Unfortunately, sometimes I really feel that by doing so, I have done what I have always been doing, CCYSF! Why do I share information that can otherwise earn me some big bucks?

That is because I love to Chook Choong Yap Si Fatt! I strongly believe that bad breeders, liars and cheaters only deserve to live in my @SS!

2013 continues to be a PEACEFUL year because we have many wonderful products to support our bunny hobby.

Both Genesis Ultra Premium & Versele Laga Rabbit & Guinea Pig food have proved to be very reliable brands. I have PEACE knowing that my rabbits are given the best!

Our very own TinyCritterz.com Timothy Hay have also rise to the occasion in bringing PEACE to many rabbit owners as far as fulfilling the chewing and fiber needs of their rabbits. Whenever you feed TinyCritterz’s Timothy Hay, rest assured that is exactly what I feed at Tru-Luv Rabbitry. My mind would be at PEACE if I were you. We been through the CHAOS, you enjoy the PEACE we found.

Just before I end my New Year’s Day post, I would love to share the best question I received in year 2012.

A few breeders approached me throughout the year asking me, “HOW COME MY DOE IS NOT INTERESTED TO BREED?”

I must first thank the people who have asked me this question. I know they asked because they see me as an expert and could offer help. For that, I must thank all of you for looking so highly on me.

However, when I first receive this question, I was dumbfounded. In actual fact, I do not have the answer and I do not think that I will ever have the answer. At that moment, I can only wish that I can be one of the Transformers robots. If I were a Transformers robot, I would love to be named RABBIMUS PRIME.

I would really love to be a rabbit to know why the doe was not interested in breeding. I would like to be able to have a rabbit to rabbit, one to one talk. Perhaps I will be able to solve one of the biggest CHAOS most breeders go through.

And where does that leave me?

One of the resolutions I have for year 2013 is to be a Rabbit Whisperer and the other is to bring more PEACE solutions to fellow bunny owners’ lives (No thanks, I do not need a Noble Prize)!

May you have less CHAOS and more PEACE in 2013!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBUN AND EVERYONE!

Be Still, Be At Peace...

Be Still, Be At Peace…

Bunny’s Journal Gathering 2.0

736017_395877003832200_1462521351_o

Looking at my schedule today, it was practically impossible for me to make it for the gathering but after a wonderful 1st gathering organized by the Bunny’s Journal team, I could not resist and decided to make some changes to my plans.

738130_396166953803205_728459299_o

The Bunny’s Journal gathering is a spin-off from a Facebook group started by En. Amza a.k.a. DaddyQas a.k.a. DaddyRock and a group of bunny friends. The main intention of the group is to bring together all bunny owners regardless of breed and creed.

Bunny’s Journal gathering is always vibrant with fun activities for both owners and rabbits alike. The gathering includes a Bunny Clinic where sharing of information takes place, a fun rabbit show, games and lucky draw. The Bunny’s Journal gathering also provide a platform for those considering keeping rabbits as pets, new rabbit owners and experts to share experiences.

Looks like I have a fan.

Looks like I have a fan.

Today I was given the honor to conduct the Bunny Clinic and judge in the fancy show. I always enjoy an unstructured and interactive session so I was speaking in a very open environment. The breezy Saturday morning under the trees also provided everyone a conducive  environment to interact during the talk.

The wool breeds did well for the fancy show. I noticed that they are very well kept and most have very nice coat. Perhaps it was because of their coat, owners tend to pay more attention to them.

Such beautiful eyes!

Such beautiful eyes!

Either way, all the rabbits present were healthy and did not have any major issues. We caught a few with fungal, mites and sore hocks but these can easily be treated.

Overall, the event was wonderful and the turn out was great. There were a good constant flow of participants as some including myself have other appointments and could not stay for the entire event.

I would like to thank the organizing committee for the honor given and it was a great pleasure doing the little bit that I am able to support this wonderful event! Special thanks goes out to En. Amza, Bart & Eisha (Babat Rabbitry), Vsa Jean, Galaxy Kelinci and everyone (apologies for missing out anyone) involved in making this a wonderful day for me! Happy Bunny People!

Lessons Learned In 2012

Just before we close year 2012, I just wanted to share my thoughts about certain things that I noticed in the rabbit world lately.

A lot of people in this world cares a whole lot about what others think about them. Due to that many interesting events have unfolded. It is really interesting to see all the funny behavior and I have witnessed first hand, how far people will go just to gain others’ affirmation.

I noticed some people get into the competition to seek affirmation and also tries to downplay another breeder through manipulations. Their every action is targeted to be noticed by the competitors and they will be thrilled if it generates any form of response. In fact, the competitors that are put into such situations should be very happy instead knowing how much these people go through just to get their attention hoping that they will feel the “pinch”. To me, these are nothing but some tickles that provide me with some laughter.

Truth be told, I don’t give a *hoot* what they are doing. They are in fact the least of my concern.

I am happy for all that has happened, all the screw overs and lies, all the hypocritical behaviors that has happened for the past 2 years. It really shows how weak humans are. Even rabbits are stronger and are beyond all the small talks and actions.

I believe that it is not good bringing negativity into the new year and this is exactly why I am throwing out all the negativity on this post. As soon as I am done, there shall be new year resolutions and better things to look forward to in year 2013.

The one thing I am very please with is how unpretentious rabbits or any other pets are. You will not get your pet smile in front of you and bite your @$$ the moment you turn around. You do not have to put on a mask and be careful what you say or not to say to your pet.

Another interesting that I noticed is how some breeders tend to like all the rabbits in the world except their own. It is said that “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder”. We should always be thankful for the rabbits that are in our homes  rather than seeking and hoarding all the rabbits from all over just to be assured the best are at hand.

I believe that GC is the abbreviation that will kill the show rabbit world in Malaysia. Things are made worst with misinformed people that goes for all these titles. People have to understand that genetics is very diverse and even a rabbit with 1000 GC Legs have tendencies to produce the worst off standard offspring. Again, “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder” and you must believe only what meets the eyes, not based on a fancy document that states the numerous titles. By the way, documents can be fabricated and changed as and when one deems necessary. There are sure some shady things going on recently as far as documentation is concerned. Last year, we have a case of a breeder providing stud service. Turned out, what promised was not what delivered. The breeder used another buck and claim it was the promised buck that did the deed. The shit hit the fan the moment the kits were born.

Truth be told, this breeder is still at large and looked upon as an expert and adorned with praises. Based on this incident, I learned that humans love to be lied to. Truth does not work anymore in this world. But am I going to change for the sake of how the world works? NO! I am the last person on earth that will kiss @$$es for the sake of praises, recognition & affirmations.

So I shall end my rantings with $crew yourselves, hypocrites!

Now, moving forward to better things…

TinyCritterz.com now carries Genesis Guinea Pig Food. This is a very good food for your cavies and it is the least you can do for your beloved guinea pigs.

Retrospective 2012

Here we are again, the end of year 2012 and in another 10 days, we will be celebrating Christmas. It is the time of the year when I reflect on all the achievements and shortcomings throughout the past year.

Year 2012 is a pretty uneventful year as far as Tru-Luv Rabbitry is concerned. A couple of shows placing well even though with very low number of entries was the biggest deal for me this year (ROFL). The shows were fun and that’s about it I guess.

The best thing that has happened in the local rabbit world is having access to Genesis Ultra Premium rabbit feed. This is the best feed I have ever used for my rabbits by far. The results are far too obvious not to be missed!

Not many rabbits born this year in the rabbitry due to other parts of my life – work, family and everything in between. I have a strange preference for wanting to be around for my does when they kindle. I have not been around much throughout the year.

It is scary sometimes to have the priority switched back and forth between the many commitments I have in life. At times, having so many rabbits start to make no sense. Truth be told, this is a real thing that goes through every hobbyist’ mind. The mind starts to play tricks on you especially when you are busy with other appointments and it is bunny chore day!

At times like these, you will slowly start to realize that there are more important things in life than to wrap yourself with all things rabbit and you become sane again. As for me, rabbits seem to pop up everywhere I go reminding me of my commitment towards those little furry critters under my care. With less to care for, it is some sort of enlightenment and you feel very liberated. You are able to breath a little easier.

During most clean up days, I tend to have less desire and reluctantly, I will pick up the cleaning utensils and start to complete each bunny chore. While cleaning, a sudden renewed feeling flows through my entire being and the love for the hobby rekindles.

It is then I realized that it is a conscious decision we make to love a particular thing or another living being. If it is based on only feelings, I am sure many unfortunate rabbits would have been abandoned.

The very moment we make the decision to start on something, we must make that conscious decision to pull through it under all circumstances. And with conviction, I am sure the hobby will last a lifetime.

Tru-Luv is a decision and journey, many possible destinations.

You can never disappoint that cute little face!

Journeying Through Life

We are born into this world, we grow up, we get married and we have kids. These are the major milestones of our lives as human beings, at least for most of us. Five years in this rabbit raising hobby, what are the things I treasure most besides the rabbits you might ask.

I can only say the people and their friendships. I do have a few friends that I met through this hobby. Most of them are people who acquired rabbits from me and others are people who follow my blog.

Some of the friends I have known since before I got married and then it was their turn to get married. Then my children came into the picture and so did theirs. Until this day, most of them still have the rabbits they got from me and I am glad we still keep in touch. I also get to visit those who are nearer. And to be able to journey together in life is indeed a wonderful experience.

Another Christmas is upon us and soon we will be making new resolutions to usher in year 2013. It has been a wonderful 5 years raising rabbits and I will continue to have them as my precious pets.

I just want to take this time to congratulate all my friends (you know who you are), who are either getting married or awaiting the birth of their precious child. It feels wonderful to be able to be part of your life’s journey and I pray for a wonderful journey ahead.

We are all made through love and to love…

Do Not Let Goodness Fade Away!

WOW is the word to describe DreamWorks’ latest animated movie Rise Of The Guardians and I shall not be a spoiler by disclosing the details. But what I would like to write about is my interpretation and the many positive points to take away from this amazing film.

I am sure you have noticed how much I am attracted to rabbits (or should I say, rabbits are attracted to me) and the first thing that caught my attention when I first saw the movie trailer was the Easter Bunny! I tend to believe now that any movie with a bunny in it is sure worth watching and my bunny instinct was absolutely correct (LOL)!

However, in my opinion this movie is not all about the Easter Bunny or any of the characters but I felt a connection with the many hidden messages behind the story line.

In the real world today, it is a constant struggle to balance between the good and evil. We sometimes believe so much in the evil and allow the good to fade away. In the end we loose hope, faith, trust, joy and many other good virtues that sustain us.

Look around us today, and we can see that there are so much hatred and resentments. Perhaps it is because we feel that we as individuals do not have the power to overcome evil and we continue to allow bad behaviors to dominate us. We are afraid to stand up for what is right and just thus, paving way for what is wrong to be turned into right under the pressure of the majority in favor.

It matters not our race, creed or religion as any beliefs with good conscience does not teach its followers to be bad. We need to constantly remind ourselves how can we contribute to our community and how can we assist in allowing the good to manifest itself.

Santa Claus asked Jack Frost a very good question in the movie and this question was exactly what I asked myself lately. When Santa asked Jack “What Is Your Center?”, it hit home for me because it reminded me how much we need to find ourselves in this world today. The question is almost equivalent to asking “What Is Your Passion?”. I am a strong believer in passion and it is better for one not to do what he or she is uncomfortable with rather than doing it halfhearted.

I came to know about Jack Frost when I was about 10 years old. I had bought a book entitled “My Christmas Book of Stories & Carols”. In it, the story of Jack Frost was written and he was a character with a lot of self doubt.

After more than 20 years, this book has been tested through time. Although a little old, I am glad that I have kept it for so long and now, my children enjoys the wonderful stories and pictures!

Of all the elements, he felt that he was the least appreciated without knowing that he had a role to play like any other. God did not make useless people and like Jack Frost, we all have our own talents and capabilities. We are able to contribute no matter how big or small through using our talents and capabilities. The moment we find our passion, there is no limit to what we can contribute to the world at large.

As for me, I have the passion for many things but the one thing I love most about myself is my talent in writing. I love sharing my views through writing and hope through what I write, I am able to touch and help others. I am glad that many have came to know about this show rabbit raising hobby through this blog and that is in itself an achievement for me. And not only I am able to share my experiences through this blog, I find that many people are much more knowledgeable in caring for their pet rabbits.

What Is Your Center?

This is a must watch movie!
