Skipped A Day

When I added the Calendar to the widget list, I promised myself to blog on the buns everyday so that I could get the Calendar filled up. Seemed as though that is not happening as I expected.

I have been down with a bad flu since last Friday and was not in the mood to blog at all. Furthermore there is nothing much happening with the buns at the moment. The weather have not been good enough for me to let them out for runs. It rained almost every evening. I really need to start letting them out for runs if not they will be stuck in their cages all day and night. Not something I want for myself if I am a bunny.

Just hope that there will be no rain this evening so that they could have a little run without having to go through heat stress as well. Maybe I’ll just leave them in the kitchen area where it is dry.

Goodbye Bandie

Bandie just got adopted by a couple and I am quite happy that they know quite a bit on basic care. I just hope that she would be well loved. The new owner told me that they intend to spay her. I strongly encourage that because Bandie’s a hormone powered gal. She does need to be spayed to tone her down.

I so want those SANKO cages!!!

There is this Japanese brand of rabbit cages that not only looks cool but it is specially built for rabbits! It comes with great plastic bottom mesh and also one cool bottom tray. The best thing about it is that, no more spills. All waste can be trapped by the bottom tray.

I saw a few in PLC Ikano and I was so tempted to get 2 of it. My wife would kill me if I do. It cost a whoopin’ 400++ bugs!!! I cannot remember the exact price but I could remember it was close to 500 bugs!

That would be one of the items on my wish list for Christmas! But the only size they have is W620xD505xH510. Maybe I could get this size for individuals and order the W810xD505xH550 for kindling does.

There would be hope if I win the lottery tomorrow.

We need more space!!!

I just felt that more space is needed for my little rabbitry. Not space to house more rabbits to be exact. I need more space for each rabbit. At the moment their cages are really small and they really need more time for their routine runs. Unfortunately it has been raining every evening and they are stuck in their usual cage. Skor is getting kind of bored that he would jump out of his cage and explore the surroundings. I can see that he is indeed getting really bored.

Just looking forward for the move soon. Hopefully in another 2 months.

Adults need bottles sometimes…

Seemed like the water bottle is working well with BlueBerry. That is the end of downpour for Noobie & Skor. I cleaned up the back of the shelf yesterday and found that there were so much fur. I believe it was from Skor.

Noobie is taking her own sweet time to drink from the bottle. In fact she has not drink from the water bottle at all. Since she is less destructive and have not topple over the water bowl just yet, she can still use it. If she starts being cranky, I will take away the water bowl for good.

BTW, we have got another surprise coming up…

Shower below…

As time passes, I realize that BlueBerry can really be a monster. She toppled over her water bowl in the middle of the night. This morning I refilled her bowl and again she toppled it over sending shower down to Noobie & Skor. I got so fed up, went out to the bunny storage compartment and took out some extra water bottles I have kept for cases like these.

I hope she do not topple over the water bottle this time. I have to assess the damage she has done when I get home this evening. Going through a major clean up would take me approximately 3 hours since I have to dismantle the shelf to get their cages out.

On the side note, Bandie is having her super major molt this week. I spent 30 minutes combing her and still there are loose fur all around. Hope her fur grows back soon.

Heat Stress

I let the bunnies out for a little run at the backyard last evening. The girls were reluctant to run much. I realized later they do have good reason. Although the sun was setting and it was not that warm, they felt the heat especially BlueBerry. She was perspiring quite a bit around her nose and mouth. She also lies around a lot. I quickly sent them all back into their cages.

As hours passed, I got a little worried about her and searched online for some emergency aid that I could administer in case of something bad happening. I found a very good page regarding heat related problems over at Three Little Ladies Rabbitry. So I went ahead using ice cube on BlueBerry’s ears. Right after that and to my great delight, she started digging into the bowl of chopped vegetables.

I notice that they have not been eating much of their pellets this morning. Skor would not usually take so long to finish all his pellets. I am not certain if it is because the pellets are not fresh, the weather is a little warm or could it be what I fear the most, GI.

I hope it is not GI. That is why I make it a point to give them chopped vegetables everyday so that they get enough moist and also greens in their tummy. Praying hard that I am doing the right thing.
